As the crisp autumn air sets in and the warmth of Thanksgiving approaches, many of us look forward to gathering with loved ones to share a meal and express gratitude. However, for too many of our neighbors, the rising cost of food makes Thanksgiving a stressful time, especially as the demand for assistance at the Surrey Food Bank continues to grow.

This year, we are asking for your help to ensure that families like Shariah’s, a newcomer to Canada, can experience their first Thanksgiving with joy, love, and nourishment. Shariah and her family have been in Surrey for just seven months. Despite working hard, they are struggling to make ends meet and have been relying on the Surrey Food Bank to help provide for their four children. With your support, we can ensure that Shariah and many other families have the food they need to create cherished memories together this Thanksgiving.

Your donation to the Surrey Food Bank will have a meaningful impact:

Share a Meal: Provide a nourishing meal to families who might otherwise go without during the holiday season.

Stretch a Family’s Resources: Help single parents, like Shariah, extend their limited resources further, allowing them to pay bills and save for their family’s future.

Comfort for Seniors: Offer comfort to seniors facing the difficult choice between food and medication.

Nourish Children: Give children the joy of opening a lunchbox filled with Thanksgiving leftovers, helping them thrive both in school and at play.

This Thanksgiving, please consider making a donation. A gift of $130 will help provide a modest Thanksgiving dinner for a family of four. If you are able, a donation of $260 could support two families. Every contribution, large or small, makes a difference. Together, we can fill not only shelves but also hearts with hope and gratitude.
